Artist Bio/Statement:
I take photos of places I love. My prints feature Tucson and Paris, two very different places and beautiful in their own way. These photos represent how I experience these places and how I want to remember them after I’m gone. I love working with the foreground and looking at things from a different, yet recognizable perspective. My favorite thing about Paris is the architecture, specifically the Haussmann style and the rooftops. More than once I have climbed out a tiny bathroom window to enjoy the view from the rooftop. Most apartments only reach 6 stories in Paris to keep the historic skyline, which I am grateful for. These buildings tell their own stories and they are works of art on their own. I have spent many months in Paris and the Haussmann style architecture is calling me back. Tucson is unlike anywhere else in the world and I lived there for 5 years. The saguaro cactus only grows in southern Arizona and Sonora, Mexico. They can live to be over 150 years old and grow their first arm after 75 years. I never knew how big these cacti were until I saw one in person, towering over me at 40+ feet. Saguaro National Park in Tucson is otherworldly, it’s like driving through a forest of cacti. Tucson is unique because it snows just once a year and you’re lucky if you get to see it before it melts. I love the juxtaposition between the pointed spines and fluffy snow. The cactus blooms in May are just as magical and feel just as fleeting as the snow.
